Joy spent many years working as an advocate for foster children, both in the California Legislature and in Washington, D.C. Joy was invited by First Lady Hilary Clinton to become a White House intern after she and Mrs. Clinton appeared on a panel together. She has received many honors for her advocacy, including recognition from the California Assembly. In 2009, Joy started working with clients who lost their homes to fires.
